A – The Dublin Port Masterplan 2040
The Dublin Port Masterplan 2040 is a long term strategic vision and framework prepared by DPC to guide future development, infrastructure investment and land use for Dublin Port.
First published in 2012 following a period of extensive public consultation, the Masterplan was reviewed in 2018 to reflect changes in trade, policy and economic conditions. The Masterplan is a roadmap for how Dublin Port should grow and evolve sustainably to 2040.
The key objectives underpinning the Dublin Port Masterplan include;
• Preparing Dublin Port for future growth
• Optimising Land Use
• Integrating the Port with Dublin City and local communities
• Facilitating sustainable development
• Providing improved infrastructure and connectivity
Three capital development projects have been developed under the DPC Masterplan;
• The ABR Project – granted a 10-year permission in 2015
• The MP2 Project – phased development in the northeastern part of the port estate granted a 15 permission in 2020, and
• The 3FM Project, which is intended to deliver increased capacity primarily on port lands on the Poolbeg Peninsula which is currently before ACP.
The ABR 2 Project concerns the elements of the ABR Project which were not completed before the planning consent expired in July 2025.
