Environment and Sustainability

The ABR2 Project planning application will be supported by an Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR) and a Natura Impact Statement (NIS), which are currently being prepared.

The EIAR and the NIS will benefit from information garnered from the extensive environmental monitoring programme carried out since 2016, which have included:

• Noise and dust monitoring
• Water quality monitoring
• Marine mammal monitoring
• Bird and seal surveys
• Benthic habitat surveys
• Underwater noise monitoring

Additional ecological surveys were carried out in 2025 including terrestrial habitat, bat, otter, badger, and marine surveys.

All collected data informs the environmental assessment of the ABR2 Project.

A key focus within the EIAR will be the consideration of policy changes which have occurred since the ABR Project was granted permission in 2015, including the Climate Action Plan 2025 and the National Marine Planning Framework 2021.

In terms of traffic and transportation, there will be no impact on the public roads surrounding Dublin Port, including East Wall Road and the R131 Toll Road.
